Maestro taps his little wand to the stand and the music begins. Seamless accompaniment to clanging steel, smiling faces and piss drunk hooting and hollering. As it should be. A premier night to remember. Live music scored to the film is something usually reserved for larger Hollywood productions, but with the help of local Burlington band Greaseface, Devin Bernard was able to bring a second layer of performance to Rome Snowboard’s newest feature film. Weeks of practice, editing and producing all came together to an audience of over 100 fellow boarders lulling them into a trance. It took me until the last few clips to remember that a full band was playing 15 feet away from me. Not a beat missed or a frame dropped between the two. Anyone who sees the video online will be able to hear the score, but to feel it in the room was something else entirely. Hats off to Rome, Devin and Greaseface for following through with their vision.
Something’s been spurred in this premiere season. Whether it’s the genuine love for snowboarding or just bein’ sick and tired of quiet rooms not reacting to mind-melting clips of their friends and peers. Premieres in NYC this weekend followed suit with a live fashion show by Sensesse and the community backed power house that is H3llgate. The next gen is getting polished, following through and recapturing premiere season. We love to see it.
