TRIFECTA 2: THE WRITE UP

A Trifecta as an idea is generally pretty corny, but in practice it’s a grueling feat of dedication, resources and passion for board sports. Every year for the past 3 years we have been taking a trip down to Big Snow to scratch that preseason itch every boarder gets just as soon as the temp drops below 70 degrees. Last year it became a mission to accomplish a Trifecta with a small group, but this year we wanted to get all the homies we could involved. Our number one priority is how can we do this and not pay for it ourselves? That’s where we have to thank our sponsors Fat Tire and Oakley for coming through and helping us make it possible.

An epic crew of homies featuring Brandon Reis, Morris Gifford, Joey Leon, Nick Joy, Jesse Warrington, Jackson Saia, John Welch, Karlos Jeri, and Ely Campeanu shoved into 3 cars with all our gear and made it happen. 4 days, 9 homies, 500 Fat Tire beers and a full kitting of sunnies from Oakley later, we were super equipped to do it up. Our home base in Newark was on maybe one of the least visually inviting streets out there, but supplied ample room for our beer throne. We went above and beyond hitting an 8 am skate sesh at the Hoboken Skatepark, one of the most scenic parks on the East followed by boarding at Big Snow, where we linked with community homies like LJ Henriquez, Seb Diaz, The Casualties Crew, Jake Parker, Callen Hwang and Jess Perlmutter. Some driving all the way down from NH and Maine just to be there. We hit another skate session with the homies and then hit an hour drive down to the Jersey Coast for a sunset surf. The hour drive and terrible surf conditions almost cause mutiny amongst the weary crew, but we rallied and had maybe the most fun session of the day riding ankle high peelers, despite on rowdy local out in the line up. If there is anything you can take away from this is that boarding with your friends is always fun and always worth it.
